THE stars of divine musical Sister Act have been getting to know Oxford as the show begins its run in the city.
Based on the film of the same name, the show features songs inspired by funk, soul, disco and Motown.
It tells the story of Deloris Van Cartier who is put into protective custody in a convent when she witnesses a murder.
Cynthia Erivo plays Deloris while Coronation Street’s Denise Black plays Mother Superior and The Royal’s Michael Starke plays Monsignor O’Hara.
Denise, pictured second left, said: “People are completely and utterly unprepared for what they are going to see because when the choir lifts off, the audience goes berserk. It’s such an honour to be part of it.
Sister Act will be playing at the New Theatre until Saturday, October 29.
