A SEX worker who willingly signed up to work for Papas at the Fun Girls Oxford agency told police about girls living in fear of the men controlling them.

The man she knew as “Mark” – Anastassios Papas – took her on, but she said she was less vulnerable than many others.

The woman, interviewed after Papas and Cochrane were arrested, told police what she knew about their business and the prostitutes working for them.

She told police she was aware of three Romanian women – Sophia, Irina and Katya – working at the agency.

The woman, who lived with her boyfriend, said: “On one occasion four clients had picked Katya and myself. The arrangement was that each girl would spend one hour with two men, one hour per man at a total cost of £480.

“The gentlemen didn’t like the price so they contacted Mark.

“Mark called me and told me to go to the car and wait. He also told me to tell Katya to stay with all four men for £200, which I did.

“These men were drunk and high at the time.”

She added: “In my opinion you do not normally have one girl, staying for this time, for that money, with four men.”

She said some women did not leave because they were scared of Papas and needed the money.

The prostitute said: “All the girls in some way were scared of Mark. Sophia and Katya were younger, sometimes he would just have to raise his voice and they’d want to do whatever he said because they were scared.”

She said if prostitutes did walk out on clients they could be next allocated a man who beat them.

“Although Mark has never done this to me, I have experience within the sex industry and I know that this is a method of controlling prostitutes that is often used,” she said.

“Other methods used in the industry include prostitutes’ faces being slashed and hair being cut or shaved.”
