FAMILIES basked in the sunshine as they enjoyed a harvest festival at Hogacre Common eco-farm.
The sun shone as people brought their own apples to be pressed, listened to music and took part in harvest activities at the site off Whitehouse Road, South Oxford, on Sunday.
An on-site wind turbine was switched on during the afternoon, which was organised by OxGrow the West Oxford and South Oxford low carbon groups.
The eco-farm has been created on Corpus Christi College’s old sports ground and part of the event was a grand ceremony where the community who have taken over the area handed over the annual rent to the college – a jar of honey.
Donna Doubtfire and partner Adam Marriott, from Rose Hill, brought daughter Lily Marriott-Doubtfire, six, along to enjoy the fun.
Donna said: “It’s been a really lovely day.
“There’s been music, people pressing their own apples, some juggling and some bands.
“My daughter has spend nearly all the time painting.”
She said: “The high point has been the fantastic weather in the middle of October, but it’s been lovely and relaxed, a chance to see lots of people.”
