Apparently Oxford city has the highest number of students in the whole of England.
Still this interesting fact should not be used to justify building on residents’ essential car parks.
It is completely unacceptable to build on Headington car park for the following reasons.
Headington has a statistically higher percentage of retirees and pensioners than the rest of the city who will not be able to cart heavy bags of shopping home. This will discriminate against the elderly, which is illegal under the Equality Act 2010.
The car park is also adjacent to a children’s play area and it is wholly unacceptable that a residential building will overlook the park so close by.
There are more paedophiles living in the area than the general public realises. It is a child protection safety issue. For both these reasons it is not surely permissible to develop this car park.
It is usually Green councillors who set these building balls rolling. They were thinking of developing Tesco’s car park a while ago but thankfully came to their senses and decided the proposed eco-building would be overbearing. Let us hope that all the councillors involved in this silly scheme will also come to their senses and bin this folly.
