ARMED police and dog handlers have been sent to Berinsfield following reports of a man being attacked with a meat cleaver.
A man living in Wey Road told the Oxford Mail: “I can see one police car outside my front door, two police cars down the road, a van, two police cars by it, an ambulance - there must be about 12 police vehicles in total.
“They’ve been here about an hour and a half.
“Apparently there was another incident by the church this morning.
“I didn’t see anything, that’s just what I’ve heard.”
Police confirmed that the alarm was raised at 11.20am, with armed officers sent to the scene.
The victim suffered wounds to the head, which are not thought to be life threatening.
A police spokesman said: “A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.”
He added the incident was believed to have involved a meat cleaver.
The arrested man is currently in police custody.
