Sir – I am grateful to Mr Dance writing on behalf of the county council (Letters, September 29) for providing the up-to-date position in respect of the contempt of court proceedings in respect of the Wyatt Bros’ failure to remove all the waste imported on to their land at Waterstock Golf Course.
However, I do need to point out that my letter published on September 15 was in fact submitted on August 28, containing arguments aimed at avoiding a continuation of the litigation.
The fact that it was published on September 15 and after the hearing not only removed the purpose of the letter but leaves me in an extremely embarrassing position in respect of the High Court. However, as Mr Dance says, the court has given the Wyatt brothers a further time-limited opportunity to seek to comply with the court order and avoid being sent to jail.
I sincerely hope that they and the county council can reach an agreement, that compliance with the order has, or will be achieved, and further contested litigation will be unnecessary.
Daniel Scharf, Drayton
