Sir – On the front page of your paper (September 29), you report that “South Oxfordshire District Council wants Berinsfield and Wheatley removed from the Green Belt”.
Inside, the lead letter from four local MPs claims that “South Oxfordshire District Council has maintained a vigorous campaign over many years to protect the Oxford Green belt”.
The MPs also claim that the new National Planning Policy Framework includes “the intention of providing permanence to the Green Belt boundaries in the long term”. If the MPs think that the SODC’s proposals represent a vigorous defence of the Green Belt, it will not be surprising if ordinary concerned people do not pay much attention to their views about the new planning policy.
