North Leigh (NL) travelled away to Littlemore Youth in the U12’s A league. Within the first five minutes NL signalled their intent when Charlie Cassidy slipped a ball through for Zak Oliver to score only to see the offside flag go up as the ball hit the net. But NL continued to press and Elliot (Beanie) Barton set off down the left wing and slid a lovely ball across goal for Lewis De’ath to tap home 0-1 (13 mins).
NL then gained a corner, which Elliot Major sent across and Oliver volleyed it in 0-2 (18mins). NL were given a free kick and up-stepped De’ath to bust the back of the net with a 30-yard drive, 0-3 (20mins). Shay Kelly chipped the ball over the defence for Oliver to run onto and his shot gave the keeper no chance 0-4 (23mins). Oliver then turned provider and his ball found Kelly in space and his first time shot flew into the bottom corner of the net 0-5 (28mins). Oliver then went on a solo run beating three defenders and chipping the goalie for a first half hattrick 0-6 (30mins), the half ended.
In the second half, NL continued to push forward and within a minute of the kick off, goalie Ethan Mullis hit a long ball out to Oliver who once again shot into the top corner 0-7 (31mins). Barton and Oliver linked up with some slick one-twos before Oliver hit the net 0-8 (33mins). Barton (through great interchanging play and a cross from De’ath) slotted home NL’s ninth (36 mins).
After 41 minutes, Connor Alsop went on a solo run beating two defenders before finding the bottom right hand corner of the net 0-10. Kelly slid the ball out to Oliver to complete his second half and double hattrick, 0-11 (59mins).
Credit must be given to NL’s defence of Corey Donohoe, Luke Ashby, Connor Sims and Cameron Foster for this season’s first clean sheet stopping any Littlemore attacks and leaving Ethan Mullis in NL goal little to do. Final score 0-11 to North Leigh.
