A great game hosted by Whitchurch, a really open game saw the 10 of Headington take on a full Whitchurch side.
A very open game and lots of running, which was surprising considering the heat!
Whitchurch took a 2 -0 lead into half time, from 2 breakaway goals scored an 24 and 27 mins, in between which the Whitchurch goalie made a great double save from Liam Costar.
The second half had everything, a real spectators spectacle. Headington pulled 1 back through great determination from Liam Costar, a second followed from Tyrhys Lukonyomoi from outside the box. Toby Gibb then hit the Whitchurch bar from 35 yards whilst Whitchurch also squandered chances to get goals. Ted Cox on the right wing then gave Headington the lead with a 35 yarder over the keeper for his first ever league goal. End to end attacks followed, Whitchurch were awarded a penalty that was expertly dispatched, Thomas Johnston in the Sharks goal had no chance. Whitchurch snaffled a winner in the last few mins for a 4-3 win and the points. A great game, well supported and well played considering the heat.
