THE sun shone on boaters and visitors at the eighth annual Banbury Canal Day.
The event, on the Oxford Canal beside the Castle Quay shopping centre, had a royal theme in honour of the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton and next year’s Diamond Jubilee.
Boaters, performers and stall holders all helped keep visitors occupied throughout the day.
Narrowboater Tracy Dempster, who was aboard Rivendell with her husband Steve and dog Callie, all pictured, said: “Come rain or shine we will be here next year, because it has been fabulous. I’ve only got praise for everybody. Banbury has made us feel very welcome.”
The couple, from Devon, are travelling around the county for a month. Mrs Dempster added: “Oxfordshire is an absolutely wonderful county.” Picture: Damian Halliwell
