IT COMES as no surprise that our primary schools are still under performing. The issue is not something that can be resolved overnight.
We called for Oxfordshire County Council to take action and it has.
But it is a slow process.
An inquiry into failures has been held and an improvement plan is being drawn up that should see problems tackled at an earlier stage.
It now falls on school governors, heads and teachers to play their part in pulling performance up by the boot straps.
In our view the standard of the city’s primary schools is one of the biggest challenges facing our county council.
It is, frankly, pitiful that parents should put up with the standard of education served up to their youngsters.
Ultimately, the council and the schools will be judged on results... just like our kids.
We are just not sure how long parents are willing to wait.
