A couple who raised more than £20,000 in memory of their baby son are gearing up for a second annual fun day in his name.
Last year, Luke and Gemma Froude marked what would have been baby Finnley’s first birthday with a fun day that raised £13,000 for SSNAP, the charity which supports the special care baby unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.
His parents wanted to mark the difficult day by helping others. Now, they plan to do it all over again on Saturday, January 28, 2012, the day before what would have been Finnley’s second birthday, at Banbury Town Hall, Bridge Street, from 9am to 5pm.
Mr and Mrs Froude, from Appleby Close, Banbury, are appealing for donations for prizes and stalls. Mrs Froude said: “We are hoping that people will be able to help us with donations of unwanted books, CDs, DVDs, unopened bottles, unwanted gifts for tombola, and any businesses who could offer raffle prizes.”
Mrs Froude was admitted to the hospital when she was 25 weeks pregnant in January 2010. Finnley was born 12 weeks premature, weighing just 1lb 4oz.
He was cared for in the neo-natal intensive care unit but his heart was not strong enough to survive an infection and he died last June.
Anyone who can help with the fun day, should email finnleyfroude@hotmail.co.uk
