Two lorries smashed into each other on the junction of the A34 and Botley Road causing commuter traffic chaos.
The collision on the north bound carriageway saw traffic snarled back to the A420 as motorists tried to make their way to work.
The driver of one of the HGVs was taken to hospital for treatment for suspected spinal injuries.
Meanwhile, a cyclist was injured after colliding with a silver mercedes in rush hour traffic.
The accident happened on Bishop Kirk Place, just off Woodstock Road at 8.36am.
The cyclist, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital with a suspected broken pelvis.
