IT was rent day at Witney’s Cogges Manor Farm yesterday but, unusually, it was a cause for celebration.
Tanika Bandaro and Kiera Lee, from Year Five at The Blake Church of England Primary School, in Witney, handed over the payment – a basket of apples.
Under its lease agreement, the visitor attraction pays the annual peppercorn rent to Oxfordshire County Council on Michaelmas Day.
It was received by county council chairman Patrick Greene. He said: “The children were wonderful, they had poems about apples and it was a nice occasion in beautiful sunshine.”
