A 90-YEAR-OLD man was duped out of £700 by distraction burglars who targeted his home.
The pensioner was in Marston Road, Oxford, at about 9.30am on Tuesday when he was approached by a man who claimed he was the grandson of a builder who had worked at his house in the past.
The victim invited the man back to his home in Cherwell Drive and discussed having more work done on his property.While they were talking, two more men appeared in the room and quoted a price. They left when the pensioner explained he did not have any money.
Suspicious, the victim checked and discovered about £700 had been stolen from a bedroom.
One of the men is described as white, around 6ft tall, aged between 25 and 30, with a London accent. He wore a dark blue jumper and blue jeans. The second man was white, 5ft 8in tall, of medium build with a London accent. He was wearing a fawn-coloured cap and a fawn-coloured long-sleeved jumper.
A 46-year-old from Oxford and a 44-year-old from Chatham have been arrested on suspicion of burglary and released on bail.
