What is value for money? Or, it seems, who is worth the money?
Medical journal The Lancet featured 37 cancer specialists who have criticised the use of life extending drugs for cancer sufferers.
They claimed dishing out the drugs was a drain on finances that provided false hope and caused painful side effects.

We have told stories about the postcode lottery which exists between healthcare trusts in the UK and the battle families have faced.
Many have had their chances of getting drugs left in the hands of money men.
Dr Peter Skolar, chairman of Oxfordshire joint health overview and scrutiny committee, admitted it was hard to discuss which drugs were value for money.
But the suggestion is perhaps the money would be better spent on early diagnosis, rather than extending the life of the terminally.
It is a compelling argument, but could come across as callous to say the least. Perhaps more research needs to be done to find out how effective these drugs are. Then more assured decisions can be made.
