Sir – I attended a session of the Cogges Link Road inquiry and I was astonished to hear from planners that part of the money allocated for the Cogges Link Road will be used to have, at the Staple Hall junction (the double roundabout at the bottom of Oxford Hill), a restriction on Traffic entering Bridge Street from Oxford Hill/Newland.
They should not waste their money. Traffic from the Woodstock Road already does that.
The tailback of traffic along Newland at 9am; 3pm/4pm; and 6/7pm and other non-specific times is actually due to the volume of traffic going into Witney from the Woodstock Road. Do road planners actually walk around this town?
Chris Bamford, Witney
