YOUNGSTERS in Summertown could definitely feel the beat yesterday.
Staff at Oxford Rhythm Centre were teaching children the art of African drumming using a wide range of drums.
Held at the Barefoot Books Studio in Banbury Road, it was open to children aged six to 10.
Kim Gajraj, pictured right, led the session. She said: “The great thing is that children start being creative.
“It’s very easy for a child to use a drum so it is an easy way to learn about music. But it’s really about having fun.”
Ms Gajraj, a classically trained musician, spent a month in Senegal learning the art from a drum master.
