A council is looking for eight young people to sign up for its apprenticeship scheme.
The apprentices will learn a host of skills across Cherwell District Council’s services and get a qualification.
Last year, six apprentices were taken on to work in customer service, planning, ICT and vehicle maintenance, and towards an NVQ level two qualification.
Two have got jobs at Oxfordshire County Council and Oxford City Council and a third is working at Boots.
A fourth has been employed in Cherwell’s licensing department for a year, the fifth will stay with its vehicle maintenance department until December, and the sixth apprentice is heading to university to study law.
Cherwell’s lead member for the council’s Brighter Futures project John Donaldson said: “Our experience in the past 18 months is that everyone in the apprenticeship process can benefit.
“Employers gain hard-working and enthusiastic members of staff and the apprentices acquire valuable skills, experience and a recognised qualification.”
Anyone interested can drop into the Banbury Job Club at Mill Arts Centre, in Spiceball Park Road, next Friday, between noon to 1pm, or view cherwell.gov.uk/apprenticeapply The closing date for is October 7.
