Yesterday’s repatriation from Brize Norton once again proved the county’s loyalty and respect for our Armed Forces.
Hundreds lined the streets as the bodies of two soldiers were repatriated. However, one name sticks out. Eighty-six-year-old Robert Coupe travelled from Lancashire just to pay his respects.
Mr Coupe is chairman of the Liverpool branch of the Normandy Veterans’ Association and was also at last week’s ceremony.
We salute his dedication on a day when many other Oxfordshire people once again showed how much they care.
