THERE was nothing like a cuppa at Magdalen College School, Oxford, yesterday.
Around 25 sixth form students offered up their time and a cup of tea to a group of pensioners. Pictured from left to right are: Joyce Morris, Victoria Paterson, Jennifer Tempest Mitchell, Eleanor Cliff, Livvy Hitch, Elsie Brewster and Gail Tasker.
It marks the second of the school’s weekly afternoon tea sessions where some 10 local pensioners can come along to the school for tea in the company of the pupils.
There are also fun activities such as film screenings and board games.
Gail Tasker spent some time with Joyce Morris.
Gail said: “I think it was really valuable finding out about people you don’t usually speak to. We played scrabble and she talked about her life in Oxford. Hopefully, more people will come.”
Activity co-ordinator Hayley Parry said: “It was great seeing the students interact with our guests.
“They had so many wonderful stories to share.”
