North Leigh took on Harwell and Hendred at home in the A league. Harwell bombarded North Leigh’s box with a string of dangerous corners and free kicks, which North Leigh’s defenders of Kieran McIntosh, Connor Sims, Cameron Foster and Lewis De’ath seemed to cope well in these early exchanges.
A strong run and passing move between Sam Sherpa Moore and Elliot Major produced North Leigh’s first goal. Major’s through ball to Charlie Cassidy whose neat footwork and with a cool head sidestepped Thomas Badger in Harwell’s goal and fired into the empty net 1-0 (18 mins).
Another free kick for Harwell delivered the equaliser, a long ball into the box and a headed flick on by Tyler Parson past Ethan Mullis in the North Leigh goal, 1-1 (22 mins). The half ended 1-1 after more end-to-end play.
In the second half, North Leigh created more chances as Zak Oliver picked the ball up from a Mason Muckleburg pass, with Shay Kelly pulling defenders left, it opened up the field and Zak smashed the ball into the net from the edge of the box, 2-1 (42 mins). North Leigh were dominant at this point and with victory in sight and a minute to go they conceded another free kick. This was fired into the box and the ball fell to Harwell’s Thomas Carter who crashed it into the top corner for an equaliser, 2-2 (60 mins) as the match ended in a draw.
