MERTON Street is a charming little street. Therefore, the state of it, and the seemingly cheap repairs to the missing cobbles, is an important issue to have some clarity on.
Yesterday both the city and county councils’ response to complaints by Merton were clouded by a lack of detail.
Colin Cook’s comment that the college should pay towards repairs may be viewed as unnecessarily snide given that councils are paid taxes to keep roads in good order.
Both organisations don’t have a lot of spare money, but perhaps should both be braver in saying whether keeping the cobbles is a priority.
