RESIDENTS of Oxford’s Cutteslowe estate who grew up together in the 1950s were reunited at a party at the weekend.
They gathered at the Green Road Club in Kidlington on Saturday to share memories.
Linda Perks, 62, of Bodley Place, Cutteslowe, right, pictured with Jill Smart, said it was spurred by a photo in the Oxford Mail’s Memory Lane column this year of a party on the estate celebrating the Queen’s coronation in 1953.
After the photo appeared an appeal went out to get people in the photo to attend the reunion.
About 60 people attended. Guests included former Cutteslowe resident Joyce Ibson, who flew in from the United States.
Mrs Perks, a cleaner at St Edward’s School, said: “It was lovely to meet up and share old memories of our life growing up on the Cutteslowe estate back in the 1950s – it was very nostalgic.
“In those days, I lived in Wolsey Road and I was delighted to meet up with one of my old neighbours, John Thomas, who lived a few doors down from me at the time.”
She said: “We hadn’t met since we were children so it was lovely to see him again and the Webb and Keenan family, who were also good friends with us. They enjoyed reminiscing about the old days.”
