Sir – Last week you published a letter which you headed ‘Cyclists belong on road’. I would like to entitle mine ‘Cars belong on road’. Recently I have noticed a huge increase in drivers parking with two or four wheels on the pavements and verges, even on otherwise empty roads, or driving along pavements and footpaths to reach their preferred parking spaces, often their front gardens or wide paved corners. Pavement parking causes difficulties for visually impaired people and wheelchair users. How long will it be before a child is knocked down on a pavement? Drivers, please remember that pedestrians are the most vulnerable of road users, and respect our rights to walk along the pavements safely.
