Summertown Supergiants began their league campaign with a match against league leaders Grove.
Grove started the game strongly but were initially thwarted by some resolute goalkeeping by the Supergiants. Eventually the pressure told and Grove put together some good quality football to take a 3-0 half time lead.
The second half was a more balanced contest but Grove proved too strong running out 5-0 winners of the first game.
The second match was a much tigher contest. Both teams were fully committed to all challenges and Grove were able to take an early lead. Summertown equalised with a fine strike from outside the box leaving the scores level at 1-1 at half-time.
The second half saw Grove take the lead again only to be pegged back following a scramble in their area. Both sides had chances to win but couldn't take them and the match ended in a 2-2 draw. This meant Grove won the overall match 7-2.
Good football was played by both teams and was well supported by all parents
