People convicted of offences at Oxford Magistrates' Court recently:
Tina Edmonds, 42, of Gladstone Road, Oxford, admitted having an eight-inch kitchen knife in Friars Entry, Oxford, on May 25. Fined £100 and a £15 victims’ surcharge. Deemed paid by detention at court until end of the day.
Nheu Da Costa Lay, 35, of Newlin Close, Oxford, admitted drink driving in Abingdon Road, Oxford, on May 4. Fined £180, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Banned from driving for a year.
Jonathan Steeds, 43, of Luther Street, Oxford, admitted possessing cannabis (Class B) in Oxford on April 28 and breach of a conditional discharge by further offence. Fined £30, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £40 compensation.
Ricky Barrett, 29, of Holland Place, Oxford, admitted causing criminal damage by destroying two glass jars valued at £30 in The Four Candles, Oxford, on April 3. Also admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress. Fined £160, £30 compensation, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.
Adam Kent, 24, of Shetland, Buckingham, admitted possessing cannabis (Class B) in Stanton St John on May 15. Fined £100, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.
Liam O'Neill, 18, of no fixed address, admitted failing to comply with a suspended sentence by failing to attend supervision on April 26. Suspended sentence of 10 weeks suspended for 18 months implemented. Jailed for 10 weeks.
Jamie Smith, 21, of Deer Walk, Oxford, admitted having a folding pocket knife in Blackbird Leys on March 4. Given a three-week curfew.
Karolis Andrijauskas, 18, of Barns Road, Oxford, admitted driving without a licence and insurance and drink driving on the A329 on May 26. Fined £200, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Banned from driving for two years.
Jack Burgess, 22, of Brighthampton Court, Standlake, Witney, convicted of assault in Eynsham on August 20, 2010. Given a six-week jail term, suspended for a year, and told to do 60 hours’ unpaid work with 12 months’ supervision. Also told to pay £500 costs.
Lewis Heaver, 18, of Appletree Close, Oxford, convicted of harassment by repeatedly texting and ringing a woman’s phone in middle of night on February 5. Given six-month conditional discharge and an indefinite restraining order. Told to pay £100 costs.
Joshua Gayle, 23, of St Martin’s Road, Oxford, admitted possessing cannabis (Class B) in Cowley on March 29. Given a 12-month conditional discharge and told to pay £25 costs.
Sharon Saunders, 31, of Milton Road, Sutton Courtenay, convicted of possessing cannabis (Class B) and ketamine (Class C) and resisting a police constable in Wallingford, and admitted possessing cannabis (Class B) in Sutton Courtenay on October 5. Given a 12-month drug-rehabilitation requirement and 24 months’ supervision. Told to pay £400 costs.
Andrew Martin, 21, of Hamble Road, Didcot, admitted destroying a glass-fronted door at McDonald’s in Oxford on May 12. Given a 12-month conditional discharge for a year and told to pay £150 compensation.
Phillip Sweetman, 35, of no fixed address, admitted shoplifting food valued at £11.80 from Tesco in Cowley Road on May 25. Fined £60 and a £15 victims’ surcharge, deemed paid by detention at court until end of the day.
Joshua Cheney, 18, of Bulls Lane, Little Ickford, Aylesbury, admitted aggravated vehicle taking, driving without licence, driving without insurance and drink driving on the A418 at Thame on April 24. Given 200 hours’ unpaid work, banned from driving for three years.
Louise Perkins, 28, of High Cross Way, Oxford, admitted shoplifting a hat worth £8 from Claire’s Accessories in Oxford on March 26. Fined £80 and a £15 victims’ surcharge.
Andrew Stuart, 29, of Eastfield Close, Oxford, admitted having a knuckle duster in Horspath Driftway, Oxford, on February 17. Given 100 hours’ unpaid work and told to pay £85 costs.
Daniel Tuckey, 32, of Hollow Way, Oxford, convicted of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress on November 20. Given an indefinite restraining order and banned from entering an Oxford road. Fined £75, a £15 victims’ surcharge and told to pay £60 costs.
Jackie Phillips, 45, of Verbena Way, Oxford, admitted two counts of assault in Oxford on April 17. Jailed for 12 weeks consecutive to existing sentence “because of the seriousness of the offence, two previous similar offences and because it was an assault on a doctor and a nurse who are providing a service to the public”. Also told to pay £150 compensation.
Phillip Grant-Champion, 59, of St Thomas Street, Oxford, convicted of shoplifting a battery, a printer cartridge and underwear valued at £40.98 from Boots and shoplifting five books valued at £252.39 from Oxford University Press in Oxford on September 30. Given six-week jail term, suspended for a year, and three-month curfew.
Donna Osborne, 28, of Bayswater Road, Oxford, admitted assault and having a rounders bat, in Horspath Driftway, on February 17. Given a four-week jail term, suspended for a year. Told to do 100 hours’ unpaid work and given 12 months’ supervision.
Ann MacDonagh, 47, of Samphire Road, Oxford, admitted shoplifting Olay Regenerist Serum, valued at £29.95, from Superdrug in Oxford on May 10. Fined £50, £15 victims’ surcharge, £29.95 compensation and £25 costs.
Fabio Caires, 28, of Palmer Road, Oxford, admitted shoplifting baby clothes valued at £117 from Next in Oxford on April 11, shoplifting £22.12 of food from Tesco in Oxford on April 27 and commission of a further offence while subject to a conditional discharge.Told to do 120 hours’ unpaid work and pay £50 costs.
