BALLET, break-dance and roller-blading take centre stage in a new Oxford show tonight.
Successful Australian creation Happy as Larry celebrates its UK debut at the Oxford Playhouse, before embarking on a six-week tour.
The show combines roller-skating, contemporary dance and other moves to “investigate the elusive nature of human happiness.”
Dance member Miranda Wheen said: “It’s great to be in Oxford, it’s absolutely beautiful.”
Characters are based on nine personality types, including the Perfectionist, the Giver, the Performer and the Devil’s Advocate.
It was created by Shaun Parker, one of Australia’s foremost choreographers.
Ms Wheen, who plays the Mediator, said: “It’s all about exploring happiness and the nature of happiness in different scenarios.
“We are really excited about bringing the show to UK audiences. We’re so used to Australian audiences, it’ll be very different.”
The show runs tonight at 8pm and tomorrow at 7.30pm.
Tickets are available from 01865 305305 or oxfordplayhouse.com
