A DECISION on whether to introduce charges for permits for Oxford residents to park outside their homes is set to be made by senior councillors tomorrow.
Oxfordshire County Council's cabinet has been recommended by officers to approve the £40 charge for a permit - despite overwhelming opposition to the plans revealed in a consultation carried out by the council.
Last week, around 200 people attended a stormy meeting to question council leader Keith Mitchell and cabinet member for transport David Robertson.
Some 68 per cent of those who replied to consultation on the proposals objected to the plans.
Mr Robertson has said no decision has yet been taken on the issue, despite the report from officers saying: "Nothing in the consultation reveals significant flaws in the case for introducing charging."
The cabinet meeting starts at 2pm in County Hall, Oxford.
