Didcot's CCTV network is set to be extended to cover the new Town Square, including the cinema and arts centre.
South Oxfordshire District Council also want to install a camera to cover the Lower Broadway and High Street area of the town centre.
The network of cameras, installed by the district council in November 2005, will also be linked to the Orchard Centre system once the Town Square is completed next summer.
Two new staff have also been recruited to monitor cameras across the district and are currently being trained.
A report on the effectiveness of South Oxfordshire's CCTV systems is due to be released later this year.
