Rail firms say they have no plans to shut ticket offices at small stations in Oxfordshire in the wake of a Government report recommending cost cutting measures.
Sir Roy McNulty said in his report that 675 smaller ticket offices out of 2,500 across the country should close, with ticket machines provided instead.
A rail lobby group suggested that could spell the end of ticket offices at stations in Oxfordshire including Bicester North, Haddenham and Thame Parkway, Charlbury and Goring.
But Chiltern Railways said there were no plans to reduce opening hours at Bicester North or to close the ticket office at Haddenham & Thame Parkway.
A spokesman said: “These are simply recommendations. We have no plans to alter the booking office opening hours.
“Bicester North is a key station for Chiltern Railways.”
A spokesman for First Great Western, which runs the other stations listed for possible closure, said: “We have no plans to close any of our offices.”
Members of the TSSA union, which represents ticket office staff, picketed the London home of Transport Secretary Philip Hammond on Tuesday in protest at the report’s recommendations.
