LISA Auchinvole has raised more than £10,000 for charity after battling the English Channel.
The owner of tfd health and fitness club in Grove raised the cash for Action Duchenne as her school friend Trudi Carpenter’s eight-year-old son Adam suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
But Mrs Auchinvole, 40, had to end her swim four miles from France after the weather became too bad for her to swim through busy waters near Calais.
She had swum 28 miles in 15 hours.
She said: “I got some jellyfish stings along my way but otherwise I swam hard and well.
“I did not feel like I wanted to give up but it was not my decision.”
She said: “I was devastated when I learnt of Adam’s condition and wanted to support the family as best I can.”
Mrs Carpenter, from Bicester, said: “Lisa’s commitment to our cause with her Channel swim shows us just how much she wants to give her help and support.”
