A YOUNG mother who has been given the all-clear from cancer will be celebrating with a jump, twist and a shimmy.
Bethan Reading, 33, was diagnosed with breast cancer last November and since then has undergone treatment including chemotherapy, radiotherapy and an operation to remove the tumour.
Last month Bethan, mum to two-year-old Ellis Payne, was given the all-clear by doctors.
Now she is setting her sights on raising cash for breast cancer charity the Pink Ribbon Foundation by taking part in a two-hour ‘Pink Aerobics’ session, organised by female friends who have been desperate to show their solidarity.
Ms Reading, from Bicester, believes her “pig headedness” and her stubborn belief she would beat the disease got her through the last year.
She said: “I went along to the appointment thinking it was just an infection. I didn’t believe I had cancer.”
She added: “I’m one of those people who gets on and copes with it.”
Ms Reading, a clinical psychologist, said she was very lucky not to suffer side effects during her treatment.
Her girlfriends have been busy getting support from local businesses for the event at Bicester Sports Centre, Queens Avenue, on Saturday, October 1, between 2pm and 5pm. People need to register, which costs £5, and are also encouraged to get sponsorship.
