POLICE officers have promised to get on their bikes to target drug dealers who have been plaguing Didcot’s Fleet Meadow estate.
The problem of drug dealing was raised by residents last month at a Neighbourhood Action Group meeting.
Father-of-two Clifford Oakes, 48, a binman from Kynaston Road, said: “People in the area are well aware of the problem. I know they would welcome the police targeting these dealers.”
Thames Valley Police officers in the town are promising to make the issue a high priority this month.
Pc Rob McIntyre, 47, who is based at Didcot police station, said Pcs Paul Webber and Colin James, who head the area’s pro-active cycling team, would lead the initiative against dealers.
Pc McIntyre said the pro-active cycling team was being used to gather information on dealers before arrests were made.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
