PETER Manser (Letters, September 9) asserts that he is more interested in the evidence for life after death than the fact the world’s major faiths affirm it.
This being so, has he studied the immense mass of evidence accumulated by eminent scientists such as Sir Oliver Lodge and, in our own time, Dr Robert Crookall, BSc, DSc, PhD?
He could also make his own investigations, such as some of us have done.
Mr Manser is sceptical about the ordinary man’s beliefs.
For my part, I have great respect for humankind’s deepest convictions.
We do not need to depend on contemporary eminent thinkers who dominate the media.
They are brilliant in their own particular subjects, but their views on the paranormal are worthless if they haven’t experienced it.
There is an interesting Old Testament story about Balaam, a man of great reputation in his day, so great that the King of Moab sent for him in extremity (Numbers Ch 22 v 21-).
He saddled his ass and went to meet the King, but the Lord sent an angel to prevent him.
The angel stood across his path. Balaam, though he was a man of high intelligence, did not see the angel but the ass saw him.
