Today at West Witney Sports Ground, staged the eagerly awaited seasonal opening U9 match between Tower Hill and Abingdon Youth.
The first game started with equal enthusiasm and what seemed two equally matched teams.Abingdon took the lead with a good finish from Henry Turner. Tower Hill levelled in the first half following a corner and a mix up in the Abingdon defence.
Abingdon restored the lead just before halftime folowing a goalmouth scrabble through Jude Slater. The second half began and Abingdon started to gain the advantage and a third goal followed with some good finishing by Arnau Gasso. The game finished 3-1 which seemed a fair result. The second game again started as a tightly fought match dominated by good defending by both teams. As the game progressed Abingdon started to have more of the game and took the lead through Casey Highmoor from a "cross-shot" from the edge of the box. Their second arrived following some excellent passing allowing Lincoln Moreton to coolly finish off a great move.
Final score 5-1 to Abingdon but credit to both teams for the effort and commitment.
