In business, making a profit comes top of the agenda, but every now and then a firm decides to give something back to the community it serves.
Champion Recruitment has made a magnificent contribution by donating £250,000 to charity, as it celebrates its 25th anniversary of trading.
It is not the first company to open its cheque book and make such a selfless gesture.
But Tracy Hoodless, who heads the firm, should be commended for donating £10,000 for every one of 25 years in the business.
Over the past quarter of a century, she has helped thousands of customers find a job with the right firm.
Many of those who walk into the office in Cornmarket leave an hour later, feeling much more positive about the future.
Now, with the £250,000 donation, the firm is making a major contribution to the fundraising campaign for the new Oxford Children's Hospital, and a number of other deserving charities, including the Helen and Douglas House hospices.
Let's hope other big firms check their profit margins and, if they can afford it, follow suit.
