A SIGNED guitar played by members of Oxford indie band Stornoway is being auctioned for charity.

The guitar is set to be played at the Concert4Conservation gig at The Regal, Cowley Road, on Saturday.

The Epiphone S-210 has gone up for auction on eBay, with the auction closing on Monday.

Money raised by the sale will go towards the Sumatran Orangutan Society, The Earth Trust and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, charities chosen by the band.

Lead singer Brian Briggs said: “We’ve also decided to sign and auction one of our beloved guitars to help raise extra money from the event.

“It’s a beautiful, fully functional Epiphone electric guitar and we hope the buyer enjoys playing it as much as we have.”

The auction is online at orangutans-sos.org/auction.

It will be the first time the band will play on home turf since 2010, and are set to feature new material.

The band’s debut album Beachcomber's Windowsill was released last year on legendary indie label 4AD and reach 14 in the charts.

Backing will come from The Epstein and The Dreaming Spires.

Tickets for Saturday’s concert cost £15 and are available from seetickets.com, wegottickets.com and Truck Store in Cowley Road.
