The tiny village of Towersey played host to some of the biggest names in the folk world for its annual festival.

Towersey Festival is in its 47th year and this year it hosted performers including Billy Bragg and The Oysterband from Thursday to yesterday.

Music, dance, workshops and a packed showground of activities filled the village, with events spilling over into other locations including the village hall and church.

Freya Oliver, one of the organisers, said: “It’s been great, the showground’s been really busy.

“The atmosphere’s really good and there are lots of families and small children in their wellies.”

She said the Hackney Colliery Band and Billy Bragg were both highlights of the event.

Mrs Oliver said: “It’s certainly got the makings of a classic Towersey Festival.

“There’s just lots of people having a good time, and that’s the main thing.”

Mark Pinder, 13, joined his Morris Dancing side Berkshire Bedlam, pictured below. Mark, left, said: “It was a very good atmosphere apart from the fact it was wet. We had a chance to try out some of the food and watch some of the other teams performing, and saw some of the buskers. I would go again.”
