DOZENS of pupils across the county have picked up a string of top A* and A grades.

At Cheney School, 16-year-old Adam Boumelha, got 10 A*s and one A, and his now going into the school’s sixth form.

He said: “I feel over the moon. I expected to do well, but not this well.

“I feel relieved for the moment, then next week I will start getting ready for my A-Levels.”

At Matthew Arnold School, Lucy Foster was awarded nine A* grades and an A, while Molly Fitzek went one better with 10 A*s and one A grade.

Eleven Year Nine pupils at Didcot’s St Birinus’ School sat GCSEs in Latin after spending their Saturday mornings studying at Oxford University for the qualification.

Six of the 13-year-olds achieved A*s despite just a year’s tuition outside of school.

And at Kidlington’s Gosford Hill School, Marta Grabowska, who moved to England from Poland in 2006, was awarded 12 A*s and one A grade, while school mate Tom Cross got 10 A*s and one A.

And in Witney’s Wood Green School, top student Rosie Aitman, 16, is aiming to study medicine, after achieving nine A*s and four As.

She said: “I was expecting quite good grades to be honest but not expecting to do as well as I have. I am really happy.”

At Henry Box School, 16-year-old Matthew Keen said he was “ecstatic” with his 12 A*s.

He said: “I have not decided which subjects to study at A-Level yet.

“I was waiting for my results, but it does not look like they are going to help me choose.”

He added: “I hope my parents are pleased. If they are not it is depressing.”
