YOUNGSTERS are being rewarded for putting safety first and wearing a cycle helmet.
As part of a summer campaign, patrolling police community support officers will hand out goody bags to youngsters they spot wearing a cycle helmet.
Thames Valley Police and Oxfordshire County Council have joined forces with the Bicycle Helmet Initiative Trust to run the scheme in Bicester.
PCSO Alison Drury, pictured handing goody bags to brothers Callum and Sammy Wasyliw, said: “The Helmet Watch scheme is a great idea because it starts young cyclists off on a good habit from an early age. Hopefully it will become second nature for them to always wear a helmet while they’re on their bikes.”
Goody bag winners will also be entered in a draw to win prizes including games consoles.
