BRIGHT sunshine greeted revellers to the first day of Oxfordshire’s most eclectic music festival yesterday.

About 10,000 people attended the Cornbury Festival, which is taking place over three days.

Singer-songwriter James Blunt, American pop icon Cyndi Lauper and folk-punk big band Bellowhead – featuring Abingdon squeezebox player John Spiers – took to the stage.

The event, which this year has moved from Charlbury to Great Tew, will include sets by Status Quo, the Saw Doctors, and Sophie Ellis Bextor this weekend.

Event promoter Hugh Phillimore said: “We are really pleased with the new site. People love it.”
