OXFORD Rounders Club returns on Tuesday – with council chiefs hoping to get cash for year-long activities.

The club will meet on Tuesdays from 6.30-7.30pm at Blackbird Leys Park for players aged 16 and over.

The sessions are being run by the publicly funded Oxfordshire Sports Partnership, which is bidding for funding from Sport England’s Lottery funded Sportivate programme for all year round games.

This would include a summer teenager and adult club and county league.

City councillor Mark Lygo, board member for parks and sports at Oxford City Council, said: “Rounders is really popular in the city and we hope this will meet the demand as there are no other formal sessions run in the city.”

A tournament will be held on July 12 at Stratfield Brake Sports Ground, Kidlington, from 6.30-9pm.
