A SEASIDE special train will run in September to celebrate the completion of work to reinstate double track on the Cotswold Line from Oxford to Worcester.
The Cotswold-Portsea Express, organised by the Cotswold Line Promotion Group, will take a First Great Western High Speed Train from Hereford, Worcester and Oxford to Portsmouth on September 10.
After leaving Oxford, the train will run via Didcot, Swindon, Westbury, Salisbury and Eastleigh to reach Portsmouth, where passengers will have four hours to explore the city and historic dockyard, or fit in a visit to the Isle of Wight by fast ferry, as the train’s final destination is Portsmouth Harbour station.
CLPG excursions to Minehead and Torbay in the past two years raised £4,000 to pay for enhanced facilities at the new platforms at Charlbury, Ascott-under-Wychwood and Honeybourne stations built in connection with the redoubling project, due to be completed in August.
