A COUPLE have handed over two life-saving baby heart monitors to a hospital in memory of their daughter.
Karen and Neil Hancox were left devastated after their daughter Kayleigh was stillborn in November, 2007.
In tribute to her – and as a focus for their grief – they set up the Angel Gifts Appeal to raise money to build a public children’s memorial in the Snowdrop Garden, Hardwick Hill Crematorium – where Kayleigh’s ashes are buried – and monitoring equipment for the Horton's maternity unit.
In just three months in 2008 the couple hit their £10,000 target.
Later Mrs Hancox became a fund-raising co-ordinator for charity Oxfordshire Stillbirth and Neonatal Death, (Sands).
Now, the couple have presented two hand held monitors to Banbury’s Horton Hospital’s maternity unit, one from Sands and a second in memory of Kayleigh.
Mrs Hancox, of Banbury, said: “The monitors were specifically requested by the Horton Maternity Unit – as they were in desperate need of them, for antenatal care, to listen to and check the unborn baby’s heartbeat.
“We were very pleased to be able to help them with the all important job of monitoring pregnant women.
“The staff were delighted to receive these wonderful gifts, funded by generous members of the public and Oxfordshire Sands.”
