Chipping Norton’s Rob Yeatman returned from injury to finish ninth in the National Junior 25-Mile Time Trial Championships in Holsworthy, Devon.
The 16-year-old, who rides for the Team Jewson MI team, has only recently recovered from a broken collar-bone following a crash in Bristol earlier this year.
Yeatman clocked 59 mins 41 secs over the 25-mile course, finishing 39 seconds behind teammate Josh Teasdale in seventh.
l OXFORD City Road Club riders were out of the honours in their second open ten-mile time trial near Witney.
Victory went to Jon Simpkins (Drag2Zero) in 20mins 15secs. He was followed home by Richard Berriman (Team Echelon) in 20.44.
City’s first man home was Richard Harrison, who came sixth in 21.04.
The ladies event was won by Danuta Tinn (Maidenhead & District) in 23.52.
Other City times: 20 J Thomas 22.23, 40 M Johnston 24.02), 53 J Whitear 24.32, 61 P Allday 25.35.
l SEBASTIAN Pancrate, from Beeline Cycles, won Oxonian CC’s team-mile time trial at Chesterton 22.15, finishing more than a minute ahead of Paul Granger (23.27) City's Dennis McSweeney to 1min 31secs of his personal best to record 28.59.
Ladies race: 1 C Vallance (Oxford City) 26.42, 2 W Gundry (Oxonian) 28.22, 3 I Anson (Oxonian) 30.54.
l LEWIS King, from Harwell, won the veterans race when riding for Beeline Bicycles in the third round of the Mountain Biking Southern Cross-country Series in the New Forest.
Clubmate Emily Wadsworth, from Drayton, was second in the juvenile female category, while Bicester’s Frank Lebon was the third man home.
