May morning passed without incident today as tight security measures meant no one jumped from Magdalen Bridge.
About 18,000 people gathered to hear Magdalen College choir sing at 6am.
It was the first year the bridge had been open since 2005, when dozens of people were injured jumping into the shallow water.
But a heavy security team and two lines of fencing stopped anyone from getting close to the edge.
One student attempted to break through the security, but was quickly stopped and marched off the bridge.
Several others chose to swim to the bridge from other banks.
Ambulance services said they were "delighted" with the lack of incidents. Seven people were treated for minor injuries.
Restaurants and pubs across the city centre opened early for breakfast and traditional entertainment will continue into the rest of the day.
