IT MAY not have been a fairytale proposal, but for this Oxfordshire couple their big day was every bit as magic of William and Kate’s.
When Chris Wignall and Sandra Reid decided to get married while on a bus to Oxford, they had no idea the date they had picked was the same as the future King and Queen of England.
Mr Wignall, 49, from Thame, said: “We were on the bus and I just said ‘let’s get married’.
“Sandra said ‘good idea. There is a bank holiday weekend in May, let’s do it then’. And that was that.”
The 30-strong wedding party, who arrived on a bus from Thame in honour of the proposal, watched the Royal Wedding in the Duke’s Cut before heading over the road to the Oxford Register Office.
Mr Wignall’s son James, 14, was best man, while daughter Emily, 13, was bridesmaid.
