SERVICEMEN and women from RAF Benson are getting ready for one of the biggest days of their lives.
Personnel from the base will be among servicemen and women lining the Royal Wedding route in London tomorrow as millions of people worldwide watch the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Sergeant James Frank, Sgt Andy Seaton, Sgt Amy Ross, Senior Aircraftwoman (SACW) Sherry Flanagan, SACW Anna Ostojitsch and SACW Debbie Wright will all be on ceremonial duty.
A reservist from RAF Benson is on stand-by in case anyone has to drop out at the last minute.
On Tuesday, the Benson contingent joined colleagues for drill practice at RAF Halton, near Aylesbury, as well as making sure their uniforms were prepared.
Sgt Seaton, of 28 Squadron, will be following in the footsteps of his grandfather.
The 27-year-old said: “Back in 1953 my grandad was part of the route-lining party for the Queen’s Coronation with 32 Assault Regiment, so he was doing pretty much the same thing I’m doing now.
“Growing up hearing about it and now getting to do it myself is actually quite cool.”
