MUSIC lovers got the chance to chill out from the weekend’s sweltering temperatures to the cool sounds of jazz.
More than 50 events took place around the city during the four day Oxford Jazz Festival, which ran from Thursday through to last night.
With a theme of celebrating British jazz, the line up included Mercury Music Prize-nominated saxophonist Soweto Kinch, pianist Kit Downes and Grammy-nominated trio Norma Winstone, Glauco Venier and Klaus Gesing.
Performances took place in some of the city’s most iconic venues, including The Ashmolean Museum, the Randolph Hotel and St Michael at the North Gate church.
Blues duo Mike Markey and Nick Jones, pictured played at Freud Cafe Bar, Jericho, on Friday.
Mr Markey, left, said: “It was our first time at the Oxford Jazz Festival and it went well. The venue was great, the audience were really up for it, and we had an excellent day.”
